History of the Unicorn Gundam Statue
In 2009, a life-size RX-78-2 Gundam was unveiled to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. It was supposed to be a temporary display before finding its permanent home outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba in 2012.
In 2017, the original RX-78-2 Gundam was retired and replaced by the current RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. The Unicorn Gundam features a transformation mode that changes between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode with movable parts and dramatic LED lighting effects, making it more entertaining to watch.
Then, last May 2026, Gundam announced that the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam statue would be removed at the end of August 2026.

Where Is the Unicorn Gundam Located
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is located on the second floor of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza. It’s a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line and also a 5-minute walk from Daiba Station on the Yurikamome Monorail.
How to Get to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza
The life-size Unicorn Gundam is located outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba. Getting there is easy from most major areas of the city, with the Yurikamome Line, Rinkai Line, and several JR train connections providing convenient access. Both Suica and PASMO IC cards are accepted on all routes, making transfers quick and hassle-free.
From Tokyo Station
- If you are traveling from Tokyo Station (JO19), take the JR Sobu Line to Shimbashi Station (JO 18) at Platform 1.
- Transfer to the Yurikamome Line Shimbashi Station (U01) and ride to Daiba Station (U07). From there, it’s about a 5-minute walk to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza and the Unicorn Gundam Statue.
- Travel time is approximately 30–35 minutes, and the fare is 480 yen.
From Shinjuku
- Take the JR Saikyo Line toward Shin-Kiba, which continues directly onto the Rinkai Line.
- Get off at Tokyo Teleport Station, then walk about 8 minutes to the Unicorn Gundam statue.
- Travel time is approximately 30–40 minutes, and the fare is 550 yen.
From Ueno
- Take the JR Ueno-Tokyo Line (JU02) bound for Odawara and get off at Shimbashi Station (JT02).
- Then transfer to the Yurikamome Line (U01) bound for Toyosu and get off at Daiba Station (U07).
- Travel time is approximately 40–45 minutes, and the fare is 530 yen.
This route offers beautiful views as the elevated train crosses the Rainbow Bridge on its way to Odaiba.
From Asakusa (Tokyo Water Bus)
If you want a more memorable journey, you can skip the train and travel to Odaiba by Tokyo Water Bus. Enjoy a relaxing cruise down the Sumida River into Tokyo Bay. Along the way, you’ll pass beneath several historic bridges and enjoy views of landmarks such as TOKYO SKYTREE, the Tokyo waterfront, and Rainbow Bridge before arriving at Odaiba Marine Park.
- Board the ferry at Asakusa Pier (Azumabashi Pier). It’s just a one-minute walk from Asakusa Station. The direct cruise typically takes 50–60 minutes, making the journey an attraction in itself.
- From Odaiba Marine Park, walk for about 10–15 minutes to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
- Take note that direct departures are limited each day, so check the latest timetable and reserve tickets in advance if possible.
- Travel time is approximately 60–75 minutes (including the walk to DiverCity)
- The fare is approximately ¥1,700–¥2,000 one way, depending on the vessel and service.

Unicorn Gundam Transformation and Performance Schedule

Since this is the last time to see before the statue is removed, new decal decorations designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki have been applied to the statue for its finale. The Unicorn Gundam is presented as RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC Final.
In addition, various events are planned from June 20, 2026 until its last day on August 31, 2026. This is a good opportunity to visit and experience these events for one last time.
Things to Do at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza

The store is located on the 7th floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza. You can also visit The Gundam Base Tokyo Annex on the 2nd floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
In addition, it can get crowded on some days, so the store might implement issuing online entry tickets. To get an online entry ticket, you need to apply to their Advance Entry Lottery Application System.
Once you are inside the Gundam Base, you can browse through the thousands of Gunpla, including exclusive Gundam Base editions and limited-edition merchandise. Aside from shopping, there are impressive displays featuring professionally built Gundam models, life-size character statues, and exhibits.
The store also hosts special events, workshops, and model-building experiences for visitors of all skill levels, though availability varies depending on the season and event schedule.
Visit the Gundam Cafe Kitchen Car
If you are thirsty, you can line up at the Gundam Cafe Kitchen Car food truck that will be operating from June 2026 until August 2026. Depending on the day, the food truck can be located in the open space on the 2nd floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza (at the back of the life-size Unicorn Gundam) or at the Tokyo Teleport-side entrance. There are various themed drinks to choose from.
They also have a special offer if you buy their drinks. You can get an original coaster with every drink you buy. There are four designs that are given randomly.
From June 2026 up to August 2026, they will be giving out free Gundam headbands with each purchase. Take note that they may limit purchases depending on the number of customers. Also, the Gundam Cafe Kitchen Car food truck only accepts cash. Credit cards, electronic money, and QR codes are not accepted, so make sure to have some cash with you.
Shop at Various Stores in DiverCity Tokyo Plaza
