How to Get to Katsuo-ji from Umeda and Namba by Train
Katsuo-ji Temple is located in the mountains of Minoh, but it is easily accessible from central Osaka using a combination of trains and buses.
- Take the train bound for Minoh-Kayano using the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line
The Osaka Metro Midosuji Line serves major stations such as Umeda, Namba, Tennoji, and Shin-Osaka. So if you’re starting your trip from those stations, it will be convenient. Get on the train going to Minoh-Kayano Station (M06).
Make sure that the train you are riding goes all the way to Minoh-Kayano Station since some trains only stop at Shin-Osaka or Nakatsu. The train fare from Namba to Minoh-Kayano is 530 yen, while the fare from Umeda to Minoh-Kayano is 480 yen.
- Take the Hankyu Bus From Minoh-Kayano Station to Katsuo-ji Temple
Once you arrive at Minoh-Kayano Station, walk to the Hankyu Bus Stop on the first floor. Go to Platform 8, where the bus to Katsuo-ji Temple departs. Take note of the bus number before getting on. It should be Bus No. 30. There are staff who can assist you, and you can easily know where to go since there is usually a long line of tourists. The one-way bus fare is 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children under 12.
When paying for the bus fare, it is better to have an IC card (Suica, Welcome Suica, ICOCA), since the last time I went there, they didn’t accept cash. If you have your IC card, ensure you have enough balance before lining up, as you cannot top up at the bus station.
The travel time going to Katsuo-ji is about 22 minutes. Also, take note of the bus schedule, as it differs between weekdays and weekends. It can also get crowded on certain days, especially in the autumn, so be prepared to stand for the entire trip. After getting off the bus, it only takes a few minutes of walking to arrive at Katsuo-ji.

The taxi stand at Minoh-Kayano Station is located at the South Transportation Plaza. If you want to take a taxi, use the South Exit Gate of the station.
